Red Bull Ride Results - Aussie Wins!

17-year-old Australian World Junior Champion Sam Hill won the 2003 Red Bull Ride beating the pro-class international field at Jindabyne. You have to see this course to believe it - no sane person would ride it. Described as the 'toughest course ever' - Cedric Gracia world DH number two was one of two internations in an otherwise all Ausse top 10.
The course consisted of a nine metre vertical drop, a 14 metre step down gap and various other stomach twisting obstacles which only a few crazy downhillers would attempt. Not for the faint hearted - check out www.redbullride.com for further details.

Aussies on the Road - Gold Gold Gold !

Congratulations first of all goes to Robbie McEwan for taking out the Sprinters Gersey at the Tour De France. What an achievement - Robbie likes to do it hard - and that he did !
The Commonwealth Games Road Race also saw the Aussies compeletely clean up with Stuart O'Grady, hot off the Tour De France destroy the rest of the field with Cadel Evans (ex Cannondale MTB XC rider) riding a great second place. Cadel was a hot mountainbiker and looks to be even more of a threat in the road scene. Baden Cooke came in third to round of the Aussie Trifecat - nice one !

Still time to get MIFF'ed

The Melbourne International Film Festival is on at the moment - check out www.melbournefilmfestival.com.au for more details. Tip - be early to screenings and avoid the lines down the streets!

Put on your laughing shoes

Sure, we like bikes - but you can't beat a good old laugh. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is splitting at the sides this year with more comedy shows than you can poke a very large stick at. What's brown and sticky ? That's right - a stick! If you want to hear better jokes (and most are) then get yourself over to the offical comedy festival website and get down to some shows! BYO tomatoes.

Thredders - 2002 MTB National Champs

Chris Kovirak once again won the Senior Mens DH in style (as usual!) destroying all who dared to take him on. 16 seconds separated him from Mick Hannah (who qualified fastest) followed by Nathan 'Stomper' Rennie. Thredo is a great fun course - definately check it out if you have a few days to spare.
Sid Taberly kept Paul Rowney at bay and took out not only the senior mens, but also the U23 titles - nice one Sid !
Undisputed DH goddess, Tai Lee Muxlow is also on a winning streak - Mt Beauty the week before and cleaning up again at Threadbo. Keeping with 'kicking total butt', XC machine Mary Grigson kept it very real snaffling up her 5th straight Australian XC title. 3 minutes ahead of Dellys Frankie makes it look easy - but have you ever ridden in a National XC race? It's hard, fast and occaisonally it hurts !
